Studley Wins Health & Safety Award at Chemical North West Awards 2026

Recognising a culture of engagement, innovation and continuous improvement

Studley Engineering is proud to have been awarded the Health & Safety Award at the ChemNW Awards 2026, recognising our approach to safety across high-hazard chemical and process industry environments.

This category is particularly important to us. It reflects the commitment of our teams working on live sites every day, where the way we operate has a direct impact on the safety of our workforce, our clients and those working around us.

A culture built on speaking up

At the heart of our approach is a strong safety culture built on openness, trust and engagement.

We have worked to create an environment where people feel confident to speak up, challenge unsafe conditions and stop work when something doesn’t feel right. In busy, high-pressure environments, that mindset is critical and it’s something we continue to reinforce through leadership, training and day-to-day behaviours.

Turning reporting into a positive action

A key part of our award-winning approach is the development of our digital Safety Issue Report (SIR) system.

Originally built on an established reporting process, the system has evolved into a fully accessible, real-time tool that allows anyone on site to raise concerns or share observations quickly and easily.

Importantly, it’s not just about reporting issues. The system actively encourages the sharing of good practice, helping to reinforce positive behaviours and learning across sites. Recognition of high-quality reports has helped position safety reporting as a positive contribution rather than a negative outcome.

Driving engagement and improving performance

Since the introduction of the enhanced SIR system, we have seen a significant increase in engagement, with reporting levels rising and the quality of observations improving.

This has strengthened our ability to identify potential issues early, respond quickly, and take meaningful action before problems escalate. The system is now widely used across our sites and increasingly recognised by clients as a valuable tool in improving overall site safety.

Supporting safer sites through partnership

Our approach to health and safety goes beyond compliance. It is built on partnership, collaboration and continuous improvement.

By combining a strong safety culture with practical, innovative tools, we are able to support safer, more informed and more engaged working environments across the sites we operate on, benefiting both our teams and our clients.

Celebrating industry excellence

The ChemNW Awards 2026, held at the Titanic Hotel Liverpool, brought together organisations from across the North West to celebrate innovation and excellence within the chemical industry.

We would like to congratulate all finalists and winners on the night. It was a fantastic event showcasing the strength of the sector.

Looking ahead

Winning this award is something we are incredibly proud of, but it is also a reflection of the work that continues every day across our teams.

We remain committed to building on this approach, continuing to engage our people, improve our systems and support the highest standards of safety across every site we work on.
