Our mechanical engineering team recently completed the upgrade of a large cooling water system in the North West, a demanding engineering project that posed significant challenges including limited access and tight deadlines.
As always, safety was at the forefront of the engineering project and our client’s Project Health Safety Environment Manager noted that thanks to good communication and a lot of hard work from all involved, this challenging project was brought to its safe completion.
Approximately 1800 man-hours were dedicated to fabrications and installation, with additional nightshifts scheduled to deliver results on time.
The mechanical engineering project involved the demolition of cooling water pumps and existing lines, which were replaced with new pumps and prefabricated pipework, valves and supports. Notable components included:
- 40m of 20”/16” sch40 seamless carbon pipe
- Lugged butterfly valves
- New bellows
- Flanged 20” flow metre
The project required precise planning and co-ordination, including the use of a 15-ton Galizia crane for seven days to assist with the installation process.
Strong communication and dedication from all involved made this a mechanical engineering success.
