As the principal contractor for the UK’s largest carbon capture plant at Tata Chemicals Europe’s Northwich site, Studley were at the forefront of this landmark project in 2021. With sustainability now a global priority, the significance of this work is more relevant than ever. Our mechanical and electrical teams logged over 50,000 hours, delivering this pioneering project with zero lost-time incidents.
This state-of-the-art plant, the first of its kind in the UK, is designed to capture and repurpose 40,000 tonnes of CO2 annually, transforming emissions into high-grade bicarbonate of soda for critical use in food and pharmaceuticals. Not only does this innovation play a crucial role in the UK’s journey to net-zero emissions by 2050, but it also sets a new benchmark for what can be achieved in large-scale carbon capture technology.

The joint build approach with M+E proved invaluable. Close collaboration, shared workspace, and daily interactions ensured efficient coordination among trades. This was especially beneficial given the limited workspace.
